Speaker: Jesus
Audience: A Centurion (a Roman officer in command of about 80 troops)
Biblical context: Jesus is traveling a preaching early in his ministry and a centurion was dealing with a friend and servant that was sick and probably dying. Having heard of Jesus he sent for some local Jews to find him. Upon finding Christ they told him that this Roman was good to them and a good man. Jesus followed the locals to the Romans home.

When Jesus was approaching the house of the soldier he sent friends with a message for Jesus. The message conveyed was "I am not worthy of having you in my house, but I know that if you just say the word my servant will be healed. I also am a man of authority over soldiers and can command things to be done and they are done. I am fully confident with just your command my servant will be made well again just by the authority that you possess".
Jesus was stunned by this sincere faith and turned to the people following him and said. "This man is an outsider yet shows faith I have not seen among all the people of this land who claim to be the people of God. You all should know that many will come from all over the world and join with my covenant people in the kingdom of heaven, while many of the insiders will be cast out into misery." When the servants got back to the house they found the servant was healed.
